A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoi An was one of Southeast Asia's major trading ports from the 15th to 19th centuries. Japanese, Chinese, and European merchants left their mark in the town's remarkably preserved architecture, including a 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge. Each month during the full moon, the old town turns off electric lights and glows with silk lanterns.
