A charming riverside town in southern Cambodia, Kampot was once the center of Cambodia's famous pepper trade, producing what many chefs consider the world's finest peppercorns. The town retains faded French colonial architecture from the protectorate era and sits beneath the Bokor Hill Station, an eerie abandoned French resort at 1,000m elevation.
