Three tiny coral-fringed islands off Lombok's northwest coast — Trawangan, Meno, and Air — where no motorized vehicles are permitted. The islands were originally home to Bugis fishermen from Sulawesi. Gili Trawangan was once used as a Japanese prison camp during World War II. Today the islands are famous for turtle snorkeling, diving, and their laid-back car-free lifestyle.
