Yangon

Myanmar's former capital and largest city, Yangon (formerly Rangoon) is defined by the Shwedagon Pagoda, a 99-meter golden stupa believed to be 2,600 years old and the most sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar. The city's colonial-era downtown, built by the British between 1852 and 1948, is one of the largest collections of colonial architecture remaining in Southeast Asia, though many buildings are crumbling.
